A Culture of Orality, Missing Their Voice
Theories of Writing
This assignment asked us to investigate a question we developed about the nature of writing or literacy. The question I chose to research was “why is teaching Native American literature in schools beneficial?” I also discuss challenges and barriers to teaching these works, as well as reasons why schools do not currently teach literature from this culture very extensively. I appreciate this piece because it applies concepts of rhetorical theory to what I believe is a social justice issue.
What Goes Up Must Come Down
Memoir & Personal Writing
This class was very open and flexible, so there was no specific assignment prompt. The only requirement was that we put a piece through an extensive drafting process to allow for ample revision. I wrote about a memorable day from my childhood that involved a nationwide scandal from my own hometown...
A Revisionist's History of the Dawes Act & Native American Success
Evidence & Logic in Public Policy
The prompt for this assignment was to choose a historic policy issue and give a rundown of what happened, including why it was written and how it was implemented. We were then supposed to take a "Revisionist's History" approach, and write an alternative ending about how we think the policy issue should have been handled.
The Rhetoric of the #MeToo Movement: Will It Survive?
Rhetoric & Composition Theory for Political Crisis
The prompt for this project was to envision a certain rhetorical future of a current political crisis and what possible solutions might apply based on the readings we had done in the course. I chose to look at the rhetoric of the #MeToo movement and analyze what I thought its trajectory was. I included this piece because I worked hard to integrate some high-level theories that took me time to digest into this work of writing.
A Tale of Two Cultures: Contraception Habits of Czech and Roma People
Human Sexuality
There is immense cross-cultural variation in sexual behavior. The goal of this paper was to explore this cultural variability in greater depth and detail. We were asked to identify a specific sexual behavior and examine how it is practiced in two different contemporary cultures. I chose to compare contraception practices between contemporary Czech and Roma cultures.

This infographic is a revision of my piece from my Human Sexuality class about how contraceptive practices vary between Czech and Roma womxn. I worked to distill this heavy research paper into a visually appealing infographic that might be featured on a social media site like Instagram. Click the link below to check it out!
